A nice bit of encouragement

I uploaded A Two Hour Love Affair to the BBC Introducing website last week, and I was delighted and humbled to discover that my local BBC Radio station had played it last Thursday.
It’s on the Bob Fischer show, and you can hear it on iPlayer if you’re reading this in time. I’m on at around 1 hr 37 minutes into the programme if you’re in a rush.
I’m really happy about being played on the radio, it’s terrific encouragement that someone somewhere liked the song enough to do that. It’s made me even keener to get my other unrecorded stuff committed to the hard drive, and so I will.
My Straight Line straight back online

I sorted out “My Straight Line” last night. The guitar in the first mix was booming out like Brian Blessed testing megaphones in a cave, so that’s been dealt with, as has the dodgy timing at the end where it sounded like I’d arrived early and started singing the last couple of lines before anyone else was ready.
Hope you like it; it’s a song about those early stages of a relationship where there’s loads of texting going on and everything’s a bit of a hurricane.

I’m in the process of getting down to some recording at the moment. So far it’s mostly re-recording songs that I already had versions of that I wasn’t happy with.
Last night I put some work into a song called My Straight Line, but the mix is dreadful and there’s some funny timing at the end that I need to sort out. I had posted it on my Reverbnation page, but after hearing it in the cold light of day this morning I took it down again until it’s more worthy of your ears.
It would have been more prepared, but I had some issues with recording latency (which turned out to be my own stupid fault) – tonight I’ll look at it afresh with those issues sorted and see what I can do.
After that one I’ve got a queue of stuff that I want to record, so please keep checking back to see what’s new.
Camden gig

I’m having a weekend in London at the end of May, and I’m popping into Tommy Flynn’s in Camden to play a short set sometime in the afternoon on May 30th as part of a day of acts from Hartlepool.
It’ll be just me and a guitar, hope you can make it.
